all done :) and :(

http://lhs.loswego.k12.or.us/z-mcbrides/AP/2009/09APbreadthconcentration.htm

I enjoyed this year in art alot. It is fun to look back at all of your artwork and see the improvements. Over the course of the year I learned that my time management skills improved. In the begining of the year, I would wait until the last minute to finish a concentration piece, later on I learned to use my time more wisely. That is the best advice I could give to students who are moving up to AP 2-D.

Overall, I enjoyed my concentration. It allowed me to explore different medias and ways to present my art. At first I was scared to start my concentration but once you start more and more ideas keep coming. I am most proud that I was able to finish all my concentration, breadth, and quality sections while keeping up with sketchbooking and blogging. I am going to miss next year alot!

final two

Its time to start my final two concentration pieces! For one of my pieces I want to try something I have never done. Im going to split my picture into four squares. One will be the actual photograph, one will be a drawing, one will be painted, and the last will be 3d. I want to try this because it seems challenging and it mixes some methods I have been doing together. My other idea is to draw a dog. This seems fun to me because I have really only been drawing people. Im excited to get these finished!

i like:

il_155x125.59283318.jpgSARAH CRUSE: Sarah is a painter in portland. I fell in love with all of her work. I think its cool how she has contour lines and paint. This is something I want to try more as well. This elephant painting I thought was so cool! the colors she chose are really soft and not too bright against the eyes. The movement in the lines is awesome also. I really enjoy looking at Sarahs work.

LINDA NADEL:

Linda is a painter in Colorado. She mainly uses watercolor. Her art is so cool to me. I love the colors and the brush strokes. She also recently published a children's book which is illustrated with her artwork. I enjoy her paintings a lot because her color choice is really unique. One thing I thought was really cool about this is the splatter look in the background. It looks clean even though its splattered paint.

Snowy Field Trips

We had another snowy field trip! I had alot of fun at CCC. I didnt really know what we were doing going there so I was really shocked when I got a bag full of art supplies and was told to make something out of it. I thought it was really cool to see what everyone came up with. Everyone was so creative! I ended up making a hot air balloon. Katie, Megan, and I enjoyed sitting around in His Bakery during our lunch break. It was very cute and they had great baked goods. We sampled a chocolate muffin that actually tasted like cake. I hope we get to go on one more field trip before the school year is over. :(

February Critique

My concentration is incorporating photography into simple line drawings. My first piece is a drawing of a larakeet with a photographed background. I decided to draw the bird because it seemed like a challenge to show color and shading of the birds feathers. I like how the actual bird turned out, but it frustrates me that the bird is smack in the middle and that the color on the bird didn't turn out how I planned. My other piece is of pansies. I have been missing paint, so I did some paint and college paper in the background. I also incorporated the pictures in a different way then I usually do. I like that I tried getting more creative and making my concentration interesting, but what frustrates me is how you can barely see the pansies. Overall, I want to continue getting more creative with my pieces because they are starting to get boring.

Scholastic Art Awards

I painted this my junior year. Its my dad and brother. This year and the awards it won a gold key.

This is one of my concentration pieces for this year. Its my friends Keely and Steph. It won a silver key.

not want to enter this but Mrs. McBride told me to enter it anyway. It ended up winning a silver key. This was also done junior year.

I did this junior year for the social issue project. Its about smoking and how it affects your lungs. I won a gold key and a mixed media award.
Overall I was really lucky at the awards this year. It was a really cool thing!

last minute pieces

This piece was last minute and it shows. I was not happy with how this turned out. On the side that I drew my grandparents I messed up on their teeth. I need to learn how to make the lines between teeth not so filled in. Another challenge while making this was that I only had one copy of the photo, so if I messed up cutting it then it would be ruined.

This piece took me more time. I wanted to challenge myself by using different color ink and editing my photos. I was trying to make this one more interesting so I chose to connect the pictures in a somewhat unique way. I have used this picture so much. This is for sure the last time I use it. Im sick of it!
